Chapter 1

UnderstandING What’s Going on

“You're not going crazy!” Is something I find myself saying to those struggling a lot. Fear, intrusive thoughts, and feeling like the thoughts came out of nowhere, can make you feel that way.

Does this feel familiar?

  • A thought enters and suddenly feels urgent.

  • You feel compelled to analyze, check, search, confess or seek reassurance.

  • Relief comes briefly, then returns.

  • Each new thought feels like “this might be different.”

  • You feel like you can’t move forward until the thought is settled.
